SABIS® RUNDA STUDENTS PARTICIPATE AT THE 12TH SABIS® REGIONAL SPORTS TOURNAMENT
On April 4, 2019, SABIS® Runda students participated in their first ever SABIS® Regional Sports Tournament, which took place this year at the International School of Choueifat – Manama in Bahrain.
The three-day sports tournament takes place every other year and brings together students from SABIS® schools in the region to showcase their athletic talent, team spirit, and sportsmanship. This year seven SABIS® Runda students participated in swimming and track events, which included the 60m sprint, 25m backstroke, 25m breaststroke, and the 25m freestyle.
The event attracted over 1,000 students, parents, coaches, and members of staff from 24 SABIS® schools located in 13 countries including Azerbaijan, Bahrain, Egypt, Germany, Jordan, Kurdistan, Lebanon, Oman, Pakistan, Romania, Saudi Arabia, Kenya, and United Arab Emirates.
We are extremely proud of our students for their impressive representation at the tournament. They competed with great enthusiasm and displayed an excellent team spirit.
“Our students made us very proud. Five out of seven students qualified for the semi-finals. The event organizers were very impressed. They gave us a special mention at the closing ceremony for making it as far as we did in our first ever tournament,” said the team coach.
“Gabbie qualifying for the swimming team literally one day after joining SABIS® Runda was quite impressive. The dedication by both the coaches and students was evident as the team trained hard throughout exam week. This enthusiasm was evident when the revision timetables were moved around to accommodate our sports team. This showed commitment and support not only from the coaches but also from the school. The SABIS® legendary team spirit is clear and I look forward to Gabbie participating in many more school events in the future.”
