SABIS® Runda Now a Certified Member of the Kenya Green Building Society
We are proud to announce that our school has been awarded the Green Star Africa-Kenya PEV v1 Design rating and was presented as a case study at the World Green Building Week from September 21 to 25, 2020. To celebrate this recognition, the school held a reception and tree planting ceremony on September 25, 2020.
The ceremony was held at the school and welcomed a small group of people to ensure the maintenance of proper social distancing and other safety protocols. Noteworthy attendees included Ambassador Njambi Kinyungu, Head of the Kenyan Mission UN-Habitat; Elizabeth Chege, Kenya Green Building Society Chairperson; John K. Kabuye, CEO, KGBS; and Robert S. Kleynhans, SABIS® Runda Director.
At the event, Ambassador Njambi awarded the official plaque to the School Director, which recognizes SABIS® Runda for its consideration of the urban and climate context, efficient use of resources, efforts to target water waste, as well as minimize waste management. SABIS® Runda is the first school in East and Sub-Saharan Africa to receive this recognition and was awarded 4 stars. The school is now a certified member of the Kenya Green Building Society.
Following the reception was a tour of the school led by the facility manager that directed guests to the site of the tree planting activity of the event. There, attendees planted a tree in honor of this moment.
